Customer Needs & Challenges
The customer needed a complete wash-up room, not just a sink: bowl unit, taps, wall storage and a drying rack. The main challenges were:
- The room is small, so the sink unit, wall cabinet and rack all had to be dimensioned to the space – the bowls had to stay centred under the faucets while leaving clearance at the door.
- The bowls need to be deep enough for stock pots, with the base pitched towards the drain so the unit empties instead of holding standing water.
- Food debris and wash water get everywhere, so the sink body had to be welded with coved corners instead of assembled from overlapping panels with fold-over edges.
- The wall cabinet had to be fixed into tiled blockwork above the sink and still leave working room between the cabinet and the shelving rack.
Our Solution
The wash-up area was planned as one set: the sink unit first, then wall storage and a rack sized around the space that remained.

Manufacturing & Quality Control
A wash-up area is judged on how clean it can be kept, so the sink body and cabinet were built to be scrubbed rather than just to look right:
- Bowls pressed and welded with coved corners – no lap joints or fold-over edges where debris can lodge.
- Each bowl filled and held to check drainage, and the bowl-to-bowl seams checked for weeping.
- Cabinet doors and sliding tracks checked through the full travel, and shelf panels checked under load.
- Rack checked for level and rigidity on its legs before packing, and each bowl drain test recorded by photo before dispatch.

Results
The wash-up set was measured from the room and delivered as one package. Key value delivered:
- Sink unit, wall cabinet and rack all come from the same room survey, so the set fits the space and leaves the door and aisle clear.
- Coved, welded bowls with a pitched base drain faster and are easier to keep clean than assembled bowls with folded seams.
- Drainboards at both ends give staff somewhere to land trays and pots while the sink is in use.
- Wall-hung storage keeps the floor clear, which matters in a room that has to be hosed down.
