Commercial Stainless Steel Prep Table — Manufacturer & Custom Fabricator
Zibo Cook builds commercial stainless steel prep tables for restaurant kitchens, food processing plants, catering operations and institutional foodservice. Every table is fabricated in our own facility in Zibo, China, which means you specify the exact size, steel grade, gauge and base configuration you need — and buy it at factory-direct pricing rather than through a distributor’s markup.

Standard Sizes (and What Each One Is For)
These are the sizes we produce most often. If your kitchen needs something else, we build to your drawing — non-standard dimensions cost no more than a modest tooling setup.
| Size (D × W) | Best for | Typical configuration |
|---|---|---|
| 30″ × 48″ | Tight prep lines, food trucks, satellite kitchens | Open base + undershelf |
| 24″ × 36″ | Compact stations, dish return, coffee bars | Open base or single drawer bank |
| 30″ × 60″ | General prep, plating, sandwich assembly | Undershelf + optional backsplash |
| 30″ × 72″ | High-volume prep, pizza and dough work | Reinforced 16 ga top, undershelf |
| 36″ × 60″ | Bakery benches, butchery, bulk portioning | Heavy-duty top, cabinet or drawer base |
| 36″ × 72″ | Central production tables, commissary kitchens | Custom base, casters, sink cut-out |
| Custom | Any layout constraint — islands, corners, pass-throughs | Built to your drawing |
Choosing the Steel Grade: 304 vs 201 vs 430
Steel grade is the single biggest driver of both price and service life, and it is where buyers most often get burned by a quote that looks too good. In short: 304 is the default for anything that touches food or gets washed daily; 201 suits dry storage and back-of-house utility at a lower cost; 430 is magnetic and works where corrosion resistance is not critical. We publish a full comparison with corrosion test data in our guide to 304 vs 201 stainless steel.
Base Configurations
Open base, undershelf and drawer options from the same frame.
- Open base with undershelf — the most common; maximum leg room and easy cleaning underneath.
- Drawer bank — keeps tools, wraps and smallwares at hand. See our work table with drawers.
- Sliding-door cabinet — conceals bulk stock; see work table with shelf and cabinet.
- Integrated sink — combines prep and wash in one footprint; see work table with sink.
- Three-sided backsplash — protects the wall behind the table where local health codes require it.
- Locking casters — turns a fixed table into a mobile station for kitchens that reconfigure daily.
Which Gauge Do You Need?
Table top thickness is specified per duty level.
A 1.2 mm (18 ga) top is fine for plating, assembly and light prep. Move to 1.5 mm (16 ga) if the table will take repeated chopping, dough kneading or heavy equipment — a thin top drums and flexes, which is the number one complaint we hear about tables bought on price alone. Our stainless steel thickness guide breaks down the trade-off with cost numbers.
Built for Specific Kitchen Environments
Units built for restaurant and food processing environments.
- Restaurant kitchens — 304 tops, backsplash and undershelf configurations that pass health inspection.
- Food processing plants — heavier gauges, seamless welds and washdown-ready finishes.
- Hospitals and medical facilities — smooth welds, coved corners and documented material traceability.
Why Buy Prep Tables Direct From the Factory
Built and inspected in our own workshop.
- Factory-direct pricing. No distributor margin.
- True customization. Dimensions, gauge, base layout, sink cut-outs, backsplash height and accessories are all built to your spec — not selected from a fixed catalog.
- Low minimums. 1 unit per size – rare among fabrication factories, which typically require 5–10. Mixed sizes can still be combined into one container.
- Predictable lead times. 3–5 days production, plus transit – well ahead of the 15–25 day industry norm. See our custom order and lead time breakdown.
- DDP shipping. We handle freight, customs clearance and duties, and deliver to your door in the US and EU. Full details in our packaging and shipping guide.
- OEM / private label. Your logo, your carton artwork, your spec sheet.
How to Specify a Prep Table in Five Steps
- Measure the space — depth and width, plus clearance for doors, drawers and staff movement.
- Pick the steel grade — 304 for wet and food-contact work; 201 only where the table stays dry.
- Set the gauge — 18 ga for general prep, 16 ga for chopping, kneading or heavy loads.
- Choose the base — open, drawers, cabinet, sink, backsplash, casters or a combination.
- Send us the drawing or a marked-up photo — we quote against it, usually within 24 hours.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum order quantity?
1 unit. There is no minimum order quantity for standard configurations, so you can order a single table to test quality before committing to volume. Mixed sizes and configurations can be combined into a single container order.
Can you ship DDP to the United States?
Yes. We ship DDP to the US and most EU destinations — we handle ocean freight, customs clearance, duties and final delivery, so there is no separate broker for you to coordinate. See the packaging and shipping guide for how tables are crated.
What is the production lead time?
3–5 days for standard sizes and configurations. Custom dimensions or large volumes may add 5 days. Confirm the schedule on your quote before ordering.
Are your tables certified?
Our tables are CE certified, which covers EU market compliance. If your project requires NSF listing — common for US health department sign-off — we can produce the order through a partner facility that holds NSF certification. NSF builds carry the same 1-unit minimum and 3–5 day lead time as our standard production — just tell us at enquiry stage so we route the order to the certified facility.
Can I get a sample before a bulk order?
Yes. Sample units ship in 3 days. Sample freight is at the buyer’s cost and is credited against the bulk order once you proceed.
How much weight can the table hold?
Up to 500 lb (227 kg) evenly distributed on a 1.2 mm top, and more on a 1.5 mm top with a reinforced frame. Tell us the load and we will specify the gauge and frame for it.
Do you build 316 stainless or marine-grade tables?
Yes, 316 is available for high-chloride environments such as seafood processing and coastal kitchens. See our marine-grade 316 equipment.
What payment terms do you accept?
Payment terms vary by product type and order volume, so we state them on each quote rather than publishing a one-size-fits-all figure. Tell us your order size and we will confirm which options apply.
